I have heard on the 'grapevine' that ECKINGTON COLLIERY(Drift mine) on Derbys/South Yorks border closed in January 2019. Is this correct?
Note: Also called Rotherside Mine according to "British Small Mines (South)" publication - A.J. Booth (2001).
Historical note: Many years ago, when I worked for EME, I occasionally visited this mine to inspect the electrical substation, which was located on the surface, well away from the drifts.
