Hi
I have bought a 5 acre piece of land on the nothside of Furnve lane
Being Fred Tarry coal merchant
I am interested on the history of the land
Was it the site of the he old Heyford iron works Nether heyford
Google earth pictures shows evidence of 3 round structure
Possibly old lime kilns.
If anyone has any information it would be much appreciated
Thanks Murray

It appears there were two ironworks north and south railway line.

1900 OS 25" map shows that your land contained an old clay pit, and that there was a limekiln close to the canal bank, and not where the circles are on the Google Earth view.
The Iron Works were on one side of the GWR railway line, by the canal. The other side was a brick and tile works.

The 1884 6" map shows 2 iron works, as above, plus the brick works.

I've looked at all the other 6" maps and can see no reference to any lime kilns where the circles appear.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
