If you can't find Devonshire Mine on here, that's because there's no such place - try Devonshire Cavern or Coalpithole Mine...

Please remeber this is in someones garden and we must show respect to the residents who have allowed us unhindered access to this superb place.

I was talking to the owners on one occasion, and after all we wouldn't want another Holme Bank situation would we !

Have also noticed a posh new adit gate under construction at the upper Adit

And what nice people they are.I've had a chat to them on a few occasions. The gate fabrication is awesome and must have been a tough job to get all the materials up there. As many of us know this site ,and the other channels are frequented by some explorers less in the loop.lets hope we can educate and preserve access to this site.

Yep, new gate going in soon thanks to DCA volunteers. Add that to the usual access point, the new Kirkland shaft and the shaft into the main chamber. 4 'official' ways in, compared to the old 1 only. Great example of what can happen when cavers are responsible and helpful to landowners. The owners here are great and really nice, but yes, you must get in touch in advance for Kirkland Shaft as it is in their garden.
The new gate is looking like it will need to be a code lock, which any DCA/BCA member can get the code for from the DCA Access Officer.

I can only claim email based credit for the new gate, it's mainly the chaps at the local activity firm, Acclimbatize, who are doing all the work for the new gate.

I was a bit confused and thought it was the entrance to Wapping
if eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd ?

I would suspect that this place will get a bit more traffic due to Masson

Probably right paul.I had to inform a group of the masson situation the other day.Fully kitted up and about to march off over the feild totally unaware of what was going off up there.Thankfully they were cool about it when i had a chin wag with them and they popped over to Noon Nick instead.

Not been the weather for climbing reccently, but are they staying away as well? Had heard they werent overly bothered by a voluntary leave it alone policy, but maybe the weather is doing it?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
