Hi Guys

Although I have the correct underwater housing for the Olympus TG4, last week I took it on a shallow dive ( 8mts ) without the housing and it performed really well giving me some really stunning images.

They're good up to 15 I believe? Always kind of fancied one of them. Olympus are good at making ridiculously tough cameras.

yes they are tough my wife dropped mine last week and it took a good battering but its fine, my mate has the tg5 which i have used but they seem to have made it more awkward to use.

The live composite mode is amazing for cave photography if you have the aditnow calendar the August shot was done with the tg4

Bought the tg5 for work about a month ago. Also bought the lens attachment/adaptor with a filter for lens protection. Looks vulnerable otherwise. Not used it underground yet and It’ll take leap of faith to deliberately dunk it.

I’ve found the hdr setting disappointing compared to others? First is that it compromises overall clarity/white balance. Second, a scene such as with grass or branches moving slightly can end up unsharp due to the sequential/layered shot timing. The first can be overcome but the second is a pain. Still, a long way from being familiar with it though.

To say its only a compact apart from it being quite slow to focus when videoing in low light I am pleased with it (tg4) although the 5 has a better processer and better low light Shooting capabilities, I would be interested if this has overcome the lack of focul speed when shooting video .

I am waiting to try the new Lumix FT7 when more generally available as I am very 'viewfinder' oriented and have to mess with reading glasses otherwise.

When I get one I will be happy to let you try it Paul. I may also soon have a lamp I would like for you to try underwater.

Off topic, but water is dropping fast in Taylors Incline you dived. I may be able to get in with a wetsuit soon and clear the fall in the level.

Also, right off thread, sorry, but the ubiquitous blue Skoda RS is totaled, not my fault. I am OK but had a near miss. Other drivers insurers have given me something really naff to use, dont ask what. They are actually being very good to me.
