I was wondering if anyone can clear something up for me as a bit of info I have read seems to mess my understanding up of the Old Engine Shaft and the East Bonsor Shaft.

Near the East Bonsor Wheel, you can get into a cross cut, where you cross a plank over a deep stope and then you hit a shaft at the end of a short level, here you can see the remains of pump rods. Is this intersection to the Old Engine Shaft and is the East Bonsor Shaft on the stope you cross?

Also the air vent near here, does that connect with any of the shafts?

Thanks.

The crosscut at Bonsor East (below the footpath) does intersect the OE Shaft.
It was used to remove the early debris from the OE Shaft as it was being driven.
When you cross the plank, that is the Bonsor Vein.

The Bonsor East Shaft was sunk further left of the plank ON THE VEIN. You can just make out the excavated area for the balance bob (left) as you enter underground, now containing a lot of rubble
