Hello all,
I'm a first time poster and was after some recommended mines to explore in the peak district area.
I'm ideally looking for a system near the hope valley with a pitch or two, which can be rigging with ladder or srt.
Something similar to Moorfurlong and jug holes which are the only ones I've done in the area.
Cheers!

Nickergrove Mine in the Delph near Eyam. Nice though trip, can be done with SRT or ladder. Its possible to do it as a pull-through, but it's not much extra effort to walk back to the main entrance to de-rig. Bit of free climbing involved in the drop down in main passage and at the exit - nothing too difficult.

There's Peakshole Sough just by Peak Cavern, fixed ladders leading up to crawly pipe workings, or depending on your SRT abilities, James Hall's or Rowter Hole on Castleton Moor.

A bit more advanced vertical work can be had at Oxlow and Maskhill at Castleton, also I second Nickergrove.

Or out to Monyash way for Hillocks, Knotlow, or Whalf.
Always remember, nature is in charge, get it wrong and it is you who suffers!.

There is Merlins in Stoney, and the Gin Shaft into Carlswark
Gt Masson near Jug Holes
Some ropework can be done in Devonshire (resin bolted), and a good rummage had in Wapping/Cumberland at Matlock Bath. If you dont mind flying bugs and water Spinney level has some interest as well (Via Gellia)

Mandale Sough (Lathkill Dale) is another good trip though no pitches involved, just a bit of free climbing and a traverse over a flooded stope.

Last time I was at Mandale Sough it had water in it - first time I had seen any in ages. But that was in April and it had been raining a fair bit before that
I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
