Hopefully this might interest some on here, I did a disused rail tunnel in Notts on Saturday, I am very pleased with my long tunnel shot but the blockage at the end was incredible if not gravity defying... The tunnel closed to trains in 1960 and the result of 54 years of crap being thrown down the vent shaft has resulted in this very precarious Jenga tower of crap!!! Fascinating as it really should just have collapsed!!!:o

Really nice! I think 4737Carlin has taken photos of the same Jenga rubbish pile or else a very similar one somewhere else? Nice work!

I really like that column of junk as a piece of art.
Guessing from the way it has come in it was all choked and compacted up the shaft somewhere before it slid in

There was recognisable stuff there from every decade I have known! Not much pikey fodder tho... Most of that has just rusted away... Trouble is it's like a big Jenga tower not to be messed with!!!

That's amazing! I didn't realise there was another disused tunnel in notts, clearly I need to be educated.
I live around the corner from a similar tunnel in ollerton, although it doesnt have its own awesome jenga rubbish tower....

I used to shoot in a disused tunnel in Wilshire that had been converted to an underground range. It housed offices and storerooms and was very secure. The problem was damp of course.
At the end of the 100 metre rifle ramge plants used to grow from the lights illuminating the targets.
I remember it as a nicely shaped tunnel, a bit horseshoe shaped like Blacket Level.
Of course after Hungerford and Dunblane it all went bottom up.
My avatar is a poor likeness.

Roy, I'm not entirely sure but at least one of the tunnels on that line may have been filled/grouted as part of a stabilization project, cannot remember if it was the range, city records place or both.

I had a nostalgia visit a few years ago and found it being used as an air rifle range.
And I used to have a 7mm Remington Magnum on there, while the owner shot an M50 occasionally for test purposes.
I lived in a world of naivety where guns were innocent fun.
For anyone interested there is more on this on my own website mineexplorer.com inc a photo, but dont want to take AN off at a tangent.
My avatar is a poor likeness.
