I don't know whether anyone else will have watched it, but they had an interesting section on Edwardian mining last night- not much filmed underground unfortunately but they did look at some of the Edwardian machinery used in Cornwall for processing, and at how some farmers exploited the mine waste.

If anyone's interested, i'm sure it's avalible on i-player, er it would be episode 5 i think.

That sounds like a repeat ifrom last year it was filmed around Morwellham - no doubt Rick Stewart will confirm, I had a feeling he was in the film

Indeed it was a repeat, on the 'Yesterday' channel. The editing of the BBC original was a bit brutal, as I have a feeling that the drilling and setting-off of the 'charge' underground was not shown in the 'Yesterday'version.

yeah- i noticed there was quite a jump from 'we're going to go underground' to 'and now we're back on the surface!' oh well, maybe i'll just have to track down the original version of it!

The Yesterday version was very heavily edited to fit the adverts in, loosing most of the underground bits.

They cut a boat trip down the river from Morwellham to Okeltor (just above Calstock). Arriving at Okeltor we disappeared into some bushes and (apperently) reappeared in Camborne - the joys of TV.

Underground on the full version we did some hand drilling, machine drilling (using my Holman 303H) and shothole charging and the obligatory fake explosion.

Wish they edited out the singing!

I've got the original if you want a copy.
