Notice the signals are different to Welsh coal mines,
Where 2 is slack out or lower,
And 3 is pull up
Always thought these signal numbers were Nationwide the same.
Do they differ in other mineral mines?

That's the same for whistle signals when life lining easily remembered by the acronym SUD
Stop = 1 blast
Up = 2 blast
Down = 3 blast

However; Here's the knocker board for East Wheal Charlotte in Cornwall circa 1900 ?

When at Gwynfynydd in the 90's

1 Stop if in motion
1 Raise
2 Down
3 and 1 pump on
3 and 2 pump off

Plus a few more of which I can't remember.

This signals board is from a calcite mine only a few miles from the first mine & was working at around the same time.
