No decent underground shots this year so I'll go for surface remains.

The first is a zinc / lead mine in the French Pyrenees. Rather a good walk to this one at 2600m. Photo shows the miner's barracks and cableway station.
La Mine de Bulard.

Second and third is a recently (2000) closed gold mine in the Black Mountain area of France. The headgear and winder at Puits de Castan ( Castan Shaft).
La Mine de Salsigne.

Nice sheltered spot for a barracks in that first one - I bet the wind whistled round there at times!

Ye Gods.
What a place to work. Plonk would be not allowed in case they rolled off.

Nice one Les - I saw a few more of these photos a few months ago, and they were very impressive - and the views of the surrounds were stunning. Probably one of the chilliest mines around to judge from some of the shots I saw.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
