Photos were judged on a combination of photographic merit, adherence to the subject matter 'mining remains', and a side order of how hard the capture was (conditions, situation etc.)

There were some stunning images in this year's competition. Judging is always hard. I really hope everybody likes the winning photos. We did!

A quick word on voting; all admins (7) voted, indepedantly their 1st, 2nd and 3rd; with 3, 2 and 1 points being awarded respectively. The total of these points gives the final positioning.

Well said NewStuff. I love the lighting in that photo. Most of my shots of the CRTT are very evenly lit, D's shot reminded me of the first photos of the CRTT I ever say, way back in about 1999. A definite sense of dark foreboding 🙂

Congratulations. I must admit when I first saw the packwall picture my reaction was "bloody hell".
Translated to ordinary English from Fellowsese that means the picture is rather striking
