Welcome to the site, you're very fortunate to have such a lovely part of the world to live in !

I'm sure i've seen some details of the mine in books, but I cannot remember which off the top of my head, will have to check my bookshelf tonight.

Most probably the recent 'Mines and Miners of Wensleydale' but shall confirm that for you.

Thanks, I would appreciate any information. I have recently been given a miners lamp which was used in the mine and this has fired up my interest.

Yes, there's a couple of pages and a plan in "Mines and Miners of Wensleydale"

http://www.moorebooks.co.uk/Mines-and-Miners-of-Wensleydale-An-Extensive-history-of-Wensleydale-s-mining-history.html

I've never seen any photos of the level itself (probably because it's in your back garden  )

Totally agree with Christwigg, the Ian Spensley volume "Mines and Miners of Wensleydale" will be a perfect introduction to the mine and its also excellent in setting out the geological setting, mining history and social history of the Wensleydale miners.

I would be amazed if there isn't copies for sale somewhere in Hawes. Regardless Rowena in the fantastic Red Lion at Langthwaite up in Arkengarthdale definitely had copies of the book for sale behind the bar last month!

Hi Snibby!
Pleased to confirm that Moore books, have copies for sale!
I know since I have just purchased a copy!
He delivers it to your door for 20 quid, which is pretty good.
The only other source of information I know of is in Dunhams's book the Geology of the Northern Pennine ore field
Volume 2 the Askrigg block.
