Welcome to AN.

What sort of stuff are you up to?

Thank you Tamarmole.

Aside from work and family, I enjoy rock hounding, exploring old mines and traveling. I have to say, this is a pretty amazing site. I have not found one like it here in the US. What do you like most about mining?

Like a lot of people on here I enjoy both the sporting / technical side of mine exploration and also the historical/archaeological side. When time permits I am either up to my armpits in ochre or delving in an archive.

Hello Kyle!

I'm one of the "foreigners" too... down in Las Vegas. I love the Tonopah / Manhattan / Belmont area. Lots of history and old mines to explore. We also have a small claim south and west of Tonopah so I spend some time up there every year.

Are you a miner up there in Round Mountain?

I had the opportunity to do a bit of mine exploring in England a few years ago and it was amazing. Hope to get back there in the not too distant future.

Hello Joanne,

Great area up here indeed. What kind of claim do you have? Ever find anything good? I am a miner up here, we a mining engineer to be more specific. What do you do in Vegas?

I work for the state as a software developer. My retirement is coming up in a couple of years so I may have more time on my hands....Unless I get an offer from a consulting company which would extend my working career for a few more years. Might happen. Might not. Either way works for me. No offer, lots of exploring. An offer, more money.

I'll probably be up in the Tonopah area for a week in June to play out at our mine. I'm looking for a trustworthy company to do some small volume assays to see what's in the mine. The mine up the hill from us produced a number of minerals including some gold. We are interested in whether there might be some left in our mine or if it's worked out. Regardless it's really fun to poke around up there for the week.

Hi Miles! I certainly remember you from M-E. Vegas is an interesting place for certain. Too bad you couldn't look me up and we could have met up somewhere for a cup of coffee. If you head back this way again, be sure to let me know. If you have any extra time I'll take you to a local mine for a look around.
