Baileycroft Quarry Wirksworth was first opened by my kinsman George Colledge and John Keene Keene left the partnership leaving Colledge to work the site althouh he had assistance from his son in Law Thomas Brittan a Civil Engineer who owned Manystone Quarry Longclffe my wife's 3XUncle Genral Manager at he Quarry Brittan owned other quarries in Warwickshire where Brittan was born

Baileycroft site is now a Petrol Station and Fire brigae Station
In my youth so many years ago, when it was Wirksworth Wakes Week Harry Halls Fair stood on the site

One of my distant kinsmen was an Urban District Councillor when the quarry site was being prepared for re development ..Waste from local working quarries was transported to fill in the large quarry hole at Baileycroft...which unfortunatley blocked up the tunnel built by Colledge to underpass North End which carried a Tramway into Wirksworth Railway Yard although the exit is still to be seen on the Railway Yard side of the Tunnel..
