Can you post up a copy of the survey? If they didn't need to drill it, it was deemed fine, or the shafts were dealt with properly. Is it a new rabbit hutch?

A search is a desktop job. You are talking about a site investigation. Namely drilling. The drillers can get a rig indoors, down steps and anywhere. Drilling is expensive and would probably entail a couple of days drilling at about £3k this is usually done at the behest of the mortgage firm following a mine search. They are usually concerned about the confines of the building. If it is a newish build, they will have probably plugged the shafts. I have the paperwork somewhere

If you could post a link to Google earth and mark your property I'll troll through the archive.
Some shafts adjoining the playing fields were treated back in the 80's but anything on privately owned land is much up to the owner, as is the method of treatment. Mortgage companies are pretty fussy about shafts or workings within 50 metres of the building.
Curiously though, if you had a shaft next door within 50 metres, they don't seem to bother; liability in another camp.....!
