Afternoon all,

Fresh meat here. Just thought I'd say hi!

Perhaps pose a question too; if someone was looking to photograph the rich green and blue hues of a copper mine, but unwilling to travel quite as far north as Conniston just yet, where would be a good place to start? As much as I love the local reds, purples, and browns of Noxon/Old Bow/Wigpool I'd quite like to have a poke around a copper mine or two.

Regards,
Marshall

Fantastic!

There's just something about those colours. Are either of those particularly complex or hard to get access for? It would be mainly for photographic purposes, or the attempting of at least.

Regards,
Marshall

Ps. Roy, are you the Roy Fellows? He of many lumens?

Are any of these walk-in or very minimal SRT? I'm far from proficient, especially with rigging.

Hi Marshall, of the ones above, just the Alderley Edge one - you'd need to contact the DCC regarding access.

As the boss man says Alderley is controlled by the DCC but give me a shout and can gladly take you round ๐Ÿ™‚

Edd - I'm probably going to take you up on that offer.

Alderley really does look stunning. Worth the three-hour drive from FoD, even. I've got some holiday to use up before April at work, 110 hours, so how many should I put aside for a visit? Is it a big place and are there any other local sites of interest worth visiting whilst up there?

Edd is really the one to fill you in on how long you could spend in there (I think i could win the lotto and not need to return to work before i got bored with the copper mines of Alderly ) Make sure you take a big memory card for piccs though AND a good lightsource/tripod ...It's WELL worth it .

Asides that there is a fair amount to see in the Peak District not more than a hour away should you be interested in "Stuff" other than Copper .

Chert mines ate Bakewell
Jugg holes
Devonshire lead mines etc

No problem ๐Ÿ™‚ Can work a trip round either an evenings mooch round one mine to an all day wander taking in numerous workings

It's going to be at least six hours on the road for me that day so I'd like to make a day of it really. So all that remains is to ask what's usually the best day for you?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
