Hi All,

I enjoyed reading the website so I thought I say hi and add that I am inexperienced in all matters caving and mine exploring but I'm hoping to get my wellies dirty in some of the easier Derbyshire mines soon.

I'll be looking out for suitable meets if thats the way it works....

Regards,

Moz

Hi Moz, if you're looking for easier trips into Derbyshire mines joining PDMHS might be a good start, we do fairly regular trips and quite a few of these are suitable for someone new to exploring. There are Aditnow trips organised from time to time, unfortunately the one next weekend involves SRT so is only for the experienced. If I can find time, I may try and organise a jaunt somewhere easy like Devonshire or Mouldridge at some point....

Hi AR, thanks for the welcome.
I will probably join PDMHS once the 1st September comes around as that seems to be the annual renewal date, especially as I'm very local to there.
I'll endevour to get some SRT training and experience too as Saturdays trip sounds fantastic. I'll keep my eyes open for any trips you organise!, thanks again!

If you are local to pdhms you are local to many leadmines that need only minimal kit and a little advise to explore safely straight away.check out trip reports from texla or zomjon to name but two. ask here for advise or warnings to assure yourself, or meet a like-minded local.
Good luck. theres soo much to see easily round here!

From memory, anyone joining PDMHS in the three months before annual subs are due, get 15 months membership for 12 months subscription. i.e. Join anytime after the 1st June, and you are given the next year's membership free, once September arrives - which is when the annual subs are due. I would suggest that you check this fact beforehand with the membership secretary, whose contact address you can find on the PDMHS website.

Hi Moz,
how local to Derbyshire are you? if you wanted to try to meet up with us this weekend to get to know some faces even if you can't come on the trip, we can work out which pub we'll be in- probably the miners arms in winster. we'll stand out in there as we'll be the ones covered in mud!

Sougher, useful information thanks.

RockChick, very local, I'm off walking another leg of the Pennine Way tomorrow but I may well call in to the Miners Arms on my way back and look for a bunch of people covered in mud. It would be nice to say hi! and hear about how your trip went as it's one I'm particlary keen to do when more experienced.

Just a thought - are you close enough to the Peak District to make an evening trip midweek? If so, I could see about organising a visit to Mouldridge, which is a good beginner's mine - the main danger about the place is crossing the A5012 to get to it!

That clinches it then, mud AND sheep poo, I'm up for a bit of that! Yes I'm very close, now I have googled where it is.
About 15 minutes away. I've got a couple head torches, an old boiler suit and wellies...anything else needed?
It would be great if you could organise that AR!, free most weeknights.

If you have a hat it'd save banging your head. access is not restricted, simply wander in. there is a plan on derbys' cave conservation web site. it would be hard to get lost in there. Honest!shout when you plan to go someone local may be only too pleased to join you,
Owd Git.

Not sure about AR, but myself and Owd Git are out near enough every Friday evening and then usually to be found sampling Wraggie's best tipples in the Bonsall Barley Mow - and we do enjoy a grovel in our local Via Gellia and Masson burrows?

OK, we might have the beginnings of a plan here - this week and next Friday is out for me, but perhaps the Friday after? I can bring my spare helmet along.

Stop talking about sheep Ric, it's making me think of a certain Macc Lads song.....

I've never been in the top 'yet' Adam should add a dimention to a 'ratch about'
provide an opportunity to return washed rope.
Also the unforgettable borley maw
Could double with or replace with the totally knee freindly non muddy Clatterway Levels, just seen Al' and his wife. (they live under the upper entrance.) and frequent the aforementioned hostelry, and are avid to 'Do their local mine through trip.
Then the home of hen racing.
So much to do so little time, i grew some last year then spotted the spelling mistake

By the top do you mean the banana slide? Worth a visit, if only to slide back down again....

OK, so we've got a provisional date of Friday June 10th, I suggest we stick with Mouldridge on the grounds there's plenty to see in a fairly small area without too many nasty bits, sheep or no sheep!

Moz - here's some homework for before the trip....http://www.pdmhs.com/PDFs/ScannedBulletinArticles/Bulletin%209-2%20-%20Mouldridge%20Mine,%20Pikehall,%20Derbyshire.pdf

Hi Guys,

Friday the 10th is approaching, just a quick check to see if anyone/everyone is still up for it?
AR/Owd Git and zomjon1?
If you wanted to transfer this to Events or wherever you think best please do, otherwise a time and a place to meet I would imagine is our next decision to make?
Regards,
Moz
