Can anyone tell me what the access is for Holme Bank/Holme Hall Chert Mine? I will be in the general area on Sunday, June 9 and would be interested in taking a look if access is not an issue. Or any alternate suggestions in the general vicinity of things to see, mining wise, for the day?

Hi there. DCA Registry needs to be updated, but contact the Oldfield Architects firm at the site and with evidence of PL insurance they will issue you a code for the gates. Holme Bank entrances are fine, it is the Holme Hall one that is no longer accessible. The firm is normally okay for you to drop in weekdays with a BCA card but no one will be there on a weekend, so prior contact is needed.

There are several easily accessible mines a few miles away around Matlock Bath and Cromford, principally Devonshire and Wapping/Cumberland.

I only live ten minutes drive from Bakewell so if you do want a knowledgeable local to show you around, give me a shout.
