I am trying to establish the pedigree of my wife's Great Grandfather John Armstrong.
In the 1901 census he is a deputy overman aged 66, born Alston Cumberland, living with his second wife Hannah at 13 Augusta Terrace, Mason, Northumberland.(probably working at the Augusta Colliery)
In the 1871 census he is a coal miner aged 26 living in Bedlington Northumberland with his first wife Margaret.
I also have him in the 1881, 1891 and 1911 census.
There appear to have been a number of John Armstrongs born in Alston in 1844/45.
I believe he died around 1929 in the Dinnington /Hazelrigg area of Northumberland.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Geoff
