Just had to post this, 3000 lumens from a single XM-L T6 running of a single 18650.

Chinese seller, pity, I would contact Trading Standards.

To get that effect you have to buy the batteries from the same supplier

This is one I got a couple of years ago. It kept flattening the battery so I opened it up to see if I could work out why.

.... So did you ( figure out why)? Impressive core! Wish I had one that big 😉

I'm guessing it was the 5mm of bare wire and loose strands. I've just remembered the issue I was investigating was actually its tendency to cut out.

Roy will know better I'm sure, but I understand the true output of one of these is something like 900 lumens.

Probably less. While the emitters may be capable of that level of output, chances of it being driven well enough to make that happen is small. Your average punter Wouldn't know if it's 300 lumens or 3000, they just know it's a lot brighter than the 30 year old maglite with batteries equally as old that sat in the kitchen drawer.

What can be compared, is a device' ability to dissipate heat? If it looks feable compared to the claimed output then be sceptical. However it has to be said, the Chinese stuff offer's great value, even if the light outputs are nowhere near their claims.

It was probably the bare wires causing a short which would then cause the protected Li Ion battery protection circuit to disconnect.

I know that you used a protected battery because if it had been unprotected you would be posting about a fire, not cutting out!

Could also be the resistor breaking down with too much heat and cooling enough to allow it to kick back in, resistor will eventually fail.

As has been said, that appalling flex connection is a giveaway.

Nice toroid.

'With terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and economic change on the rise, it's no surprise that United Kingdom residents are looking for more and more ways to feel safe at home.'

Crikey, not only is it bright but it can defuse bombs, drive back floodwaters and fix the economy.

Come on Roy, you need to up your game a bit!

Its a SCAM!

Its a £2 Chinese torch that's being super hyped.

http://www.theoutdoornerd.com/2016/02/flashlight-scam-lightstrike-360-avoid.html

And it seems that a certain TV star idiot has fallen for it as well. Now THAT aught to be in the Daily Mail

Sorry, its not a £2 Chinese torch, its actually £5.60

Its about time Trading Standards got to look at this sort of thing.
The presentation case adds authenticity, just like the bomb detectors that were actually joke golf ball detectors, the guy selling them was jailed.

They all aught to be jailed!

What everyone is missing here is that this is no ordinary five quid chinese torch it is a "tactical" torch. Quite what this means I am not sure (unless it means that it is black). However given that it is "tactical" and endorsed by the cockwomble himself it must be good.

Roy you should be ashamed at your cynicism.
