Having bought my first Protector from the NCB in 1976 I suspect their flints were top of the range, fatter sparks and free.;D

I paid £16 for the lamp in '76 and I still suspect my mate added a few quid for 'handling charge' from the pit to my house.:lol: You can still pick up a Type 6 (full of Brasso & lacquer) for under £30

Protector haven't made a lamp for a few years now
What he does is buys them (like you said) from the internet , then polishes them up and re sells them

They also have a good range of lamp glasses ranging from £50 to £100 each
