First, first impressions...

Basically, it's an L-/P-series head in headlamp form, which is no bad thing.

Head unit seems smaller than I'd expected, the idea of separate switches for power level and on/off seems very sensible, will prevent accidentally turning it off.

Brightness is impressive for something of this size and the optional AD401 diffuser is a nice bit of kit that will also do the job for the P- and L- series flashlights.

Battery box is good, looks like it will be decently waterproof: closes on a hinge and two screw fittings to pull the cover down onto the seal.

Only question so far is the headlamp bracket, which seems a bit, er, agricultural. It looks as if it might be removable, in which case some sort of adaption for blade-mounting may be the way to go.

Proper pics and a test to follow...

Cool. I think mine's arrived in the post this morning... can't open it though as it's addressed to my girlfriend (it's a very late birthday present from her)... looking forward to having a play around with it later though!

I've had a play round with this now... seems pretty good. Just got to try it out underground now!

One question... the instructions talk about clips for holding the battery-pack shut in wet conditions. It sounds like this is something seperate to the screw fixings, but whatever they are it looks like they're missing? Maybe it's just down to the fairly poor chinese-english translation? I did have a good laugh reading through them!

There's also a comment about using the headlamp in submarines...

Basically, I think it's yet another example of Chinglish - what it means is: "if you don't want your batteries to get wet, then make sure you tighten the screws on the battery case"!

The flip-up diffuser (A401) is a nice toy as well - it also fits the P/PD & L/LD flashlights which may also be great for improving them for light painting.

Lol, the submarine comment was one of the ones making me laugh!
Ah, that's good... I couldn't work out if something was missing or not!
The diffuser is pretty good... I'll have to try it on my PD30.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
