Quite why you'd try and crush a light, I don't know...

Anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WvhJWE3_Oc  - just over 10 tonnes of pressure before it gives in!

And, er, some fellow barbequeing said same light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jplEaVHnwk&feature=related  and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkXtU0gfZwQ&feature=related  - slightly less comprehensible, but I'm surprised it survived!

Nowt as strange as folk...

Well Pinky dropped his Fenix off a 200' edge onto a rock and I've (acidentally) put my Sten through a full wash cycle!

Bet that made a noise going round in the washing machine!

Btw, on the subject of Fenixs (should that be Fenixi?), will excellent-stuff be stocking the new Fenix HP10 headtorch? http://www.thephotonshop.co.uk/page4.htm

LOL! I think I must have gone out and left my neighbour wondering what the din from my garage was

I've had a look at the Fenix headtorch and I'm not entirely convinced by the claim it's designed for caving exploration, but will probably get a few because it looks a good general recreational torch, and if it's built as well as the hand torches it'll be better than a Myo XP.

Curiously, I was chasing up a (trade) price for the HP10 a couple of days ago... 😉

He he, one way to get clean your lamp I guess!

Cool... I quite like the look of the HP10; I had the same reservation as yourself in that it does look like a camping-shop piece of kit but like you say, if the build quality is anything like Fenix's usual standard it should be a pretty good bit of kit.

It looks interesting, would it be possible to get it with a blade mount or would it be a cable tie job to attach it to a lid?

Blade mount would be infinitely preferrable but it doesn't look like it has one?

Cable tie or bolt, I'd guess?

The price looks a lot better than I'd have suspected - it knocks the likes of the Silva LX and various Pretzels into a cocked hat.

would it be Fenii?

did I miss part of this thread, or is the barbeque test to come? What is it, anyway? Barbeque a lamp, or pressure-test a barbie?
''the stopes soared beyond the range of our caplamps' - David Bick...... How times change .... oh, I don't know, I've still got a lamp like that.

Barbeque a Fenix T1 and then see if it still works...

It does :)

It did have to be cooled in a basin of cold water for a while before it could be handled, mind...

I've only just watched it 😮 Why cook or crush a perfectly good torch?

If anybody reading this wants a supplier of Fenixes to deliberately abuse, just drop me a line

I did once sell one a Peli Case and the customer was told that it was possible to drive a Land Rover over it without damaging in.

The following day he came and and reminded us of our proud boast, before telling us that he'd put his new mobile phone into the Peli Case, then driven over it in his Range Rover.

Thankfully it had passed with flying colours and Peli Case and phone were fine. :)

One thing's always bothered me: why put a phone into the case to test it?!

I wonder what the limits are on the Peli case crush claims, one of my shock tube exploder remotes is mounted in a Peli case (P1200), it was being used in an open cast coal mine, when that got run over (admittedly a very big truck) it concertina'ed and then sprang back up. Did not look to bad, but when I looked inside all its guts had remained squashed!

A suggestion to the types that make kit: A Blade Mount with nowt but a perferated plate attached that can be cable tied/bolted/glued to things that lack one.

I hope to get my paws on one in mid-/late-August and then see how it can be mounted.

Alongside a Stenlight is my preference 😉
