When you say new build, to my very untutored eye it appears very similar to 'Velinheli' at Launceston.

Noooo.... you can have a nice new one for £125,000 and a 6 month wait. They are still built at Statfold Barn Works under the Hunslet banner. Hunslet being owned by LH Group, who overhaul numerous railway components such as final drives etc. You can even buy a Kerr Stuart (This one carries Hunslet plates as Brand new) 0-4-0T.... an exact and wonderful copy.

The railway is fabulous and just oozes atmosphere.

It is actually built to the same design as Dinorwic Quarry's No 1, No 2 (now Dolbadarn) and Michael.

How many variants of the "standard" Dinorwic Hunslett were there?

Loads!

Ignoring the very early "odd ones" (at Dinorwic)

Dinorwic had 2 types of Alice class
" " 3 examples of Port class (as listed earlier)
" " Lady Madcap
" " 2 Mills class (Jerry M & Cackler)

Penrhyn had Small class (very similar to Alice class)
" " Large Class
" " Port Class (not same as Din Port class)
" " Main line Class (Charles, Linda, Blanche)

Picking up your thread on quarry Hunslets, I was told that these Yorkshire Steam Waggons were made by the same company.. Is this so?
Apologies for the cruddy quality of this pic as it was snatched from a thumbnail.

No, I think they were built by the Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co., not to be confused with the Yorkshire Engine Company who built railway locomotives. Hunslet were a separate company again, who are still building locomotives today!

The only link between the three as far as I can see is that they were all based in the town of Hunslet, Leeds.

Plates off the sentinal steam wagons are highly sought as they have a cast armoured knight on them with sword....

Merddin, what is the light grey wagon partly visible to right of this photo please? It also appears to left in another photo.

Don't know is the honest answer. Looks like a sheet iron coal wagon of some description. I will have another look when I get the chance. I'm sure its an FR specimen.

Yes, it certainly looks to be of FR parentage from the axle boxes and wheels (slightly more visible in your other photo). Coal wagon makes sense too.

Thanks.

According to my book it could possibly be 166B (old FR no. 18?) Built Boston Lodge 1857-59. Load 2 tons, single end door, converted from slab wagon 1890's for coal traffic
