A bit melodramatic, undoubtedly sensationalist, and most likely full of inaccuracies, but, ho hum - it is a mine.

He would probably believe anything, such as his head being perfectly safe without a helmet, or that the probably Chinese headlamp he is wearing wont pack up at the most inconvenient time.

Excellent, that certainly should be true, I'm thinking a blind bend in the road with a suspiciously crudely hand-painted sign advertising a 'show mine' the tourists turn the corner and suddenly they are falling into space!

Nearby there will be a half derelict cottage in the woods where a large silent man who wears a leather apron lives. No doubt there are rows of sharp steel hooks hanging from the roof beams.....

If only the person who submitted the article had slipped in a photo of the pile of discarded shoes at Holme Bank mine and let the editor draw the obvious conclusion.

But clearly not bad enough for anyone to bother wearing a helmet.

Mein Gott! Just think of the scrap value of these cars - all that copper and steel going to waste. Where is this mine?

Clearly no-one on here can know or have ever been there.

Those blokes discovered it, the article says.

Why do we spend so much on under/over suits, hard hats & headlamps, when it seems obvious all we need is jeans, wellies and a wooly hat, perhaps we should leave it to the urbexers to 'discover' it all for us?????

The clock is ticking until one of these prats needs rescuing.---

What really irritates me is the amount of photographic talent that is misguided and going to waste.--
Always remember, nature is in charge, get it wrong and it is you who suffers!.

I thought one party of them did need rescuing from Box a few weeks ago, and another group had an incident which has precipitated the current access uncertainty.
