Had a very good day exploring a new mine today in the source of the Severn area. We have been exploring the area for some time now. This was a very rarely visited mine as I've struggled to find any information on it. Il disclose the mine details once we have returned and crossed a flooded winze as I'm sure there's going to be something good to see, il upload the pictures in cwm rickett picture file

I havent been yet so this is from my general knowledge.
Its common practice to take ladders underground in pieces, the timbers can be bundled together and all the rungs carried in a bag. Once undergound you only have to knock them together.

I work like this, beauty of it is that the timbers float so can be towed along through wet sections, but the rungs of refo bar are heavy carrying.
Check out my efforts at Frongoch, photos on here.

I am very doubtful if any mine laders were assembled on surface.

The second sketch looks more like Nant y Ricket or Cwm Ricket to me, too close to the river?

ah very interesting find roy- bick is the man 🙂 the 1st sketch is defonately nant melin, he states it looked like a winze at the last turn- this looks like a lower level, but impossibly flooded. and you have to pass a completely filled shaft with engines and car bits in a sort of tower ( sketchy but do-able) we left a dingy in the 1st winze to see if it went round the corner but alas it didnt-

the second drawing is the one by the car park and is i think part of cwm ricket but alot further down-the un explored adit is the one with the fause flooring at the end and as u say needs to be explored with a rubber ring as its flooded nearly to your neck- carries on to a perfect right bend and the rest is unexplored- l get down there at some point with s. tanner and see where it goes- we found the deep and as bick states it is completely submrged- u could dig a trench but its right next to the wooded platform/path and numptys/members of the public mite end up in there- interesting place

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
