Hi,
Behind the dam you do indeed get acces to the superbly deep flooded stope, with its clear blue water so transparent that you can see the stulls way below.... disappearing into the depths.
When I visited the show mine in the '80s, I was amazed that they hadn't blasted a short section so the public could sneak a peek into the lake... that would get the tourists packing in, even though some sections of deads would need clearing out in the roof of the adit. Surely not an impossible job for skilled miners ? Last year I visited the site with a handicapped visitor in the rain. There was no obvious way to shelter, so we had to turn back...
Pity, as I liked this incredible beauty spot.
