Mornin' all

As per usual I'd like to split proceeds from calendar sales between two beneficiaries; one rescue organisation and one preservation group or similar.

It's been suggested and agreed that the rescue organisation this year will the COMRU. This is because the calendar features Kate Tyler on the cover (with the permission of her family) and it seems appropriate for the CRO to be on Kate's patch.

We need to decide on another beneficiary then.... And ASAP!

Suggestions please....

How about COMRU and CATMHS keeping everything in Cumbria this time?

As a regular buyer of the Calendar and as someone who knew Kate Tyler, I agree with COMRU and CATMHS, but must declare an interest as a member of CATMHS.

Were CATMHS to be a beneficiary, I imagine they would spend the money on something specific and relevant.

I would also add that CATMHS are in a sound financial position, so it might be worth considering another rescue based organisation?

(disclaimer - I am a trustee of CATMHS).

OK, so CATMHS is financially sound at the moment. Very happy with COMRU, sooo, whilst not specifically mine / cave rescue, they'd pitch in if needed and several mine explorers I know are members, Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue. They recently had their kit room broken into, might sweeten the blow?

Kate liked the mountains around Moel Siabod so I also vote for Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue

But, since COMRU has already been decided on, that would leave us with two rescue groups and no preservation group.

I'd agree with that.

The split is usually one Rescue Organisation, one preservation / history group.

In the absence of any other preservation / history being being proposed, I'd be happy to see CATMHS being the second beneficiary and if they were able to put whatever is donated to a specific project, that would be good.

Edit: I'm a member of CATMHS, but this extends only as far as paying a subscription and receiving the (excellent 😮 ) newsletter.

Were the vote to go in favour of CATMHS, I will ensure that the committee are abreast of the conversation.

Thanks Chris, appreciate you being so upfront about CATHMS finances. I seem to recall the same being said quite a few years back a previous time CATMHS was proposed.

In the absence of any other suggestions from anybody however... and CATMHS does do a lot of excellent work.

But, if anybody has any other suggestions please keep them coming, however we'll have to make a decision pretty quickly as we're rather behind schedule this year.

Simon, I'll be out of the country for just over a week from Friday. As the calendars aren't on sale yet, could you please keep one for me and I'll pay when I get back. Don't want to miss out!
Thanks, Clive

CATMHS gets my vote.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
