A good example of why to have a callout organised!

News quote..."After the fall, Shrader says Waddell found himself trapped -- and with several rattlesnakes around him."

...I suppose for us here, you'd need to replace "rattlesnakes" with "toads", "dead sheep" or "dead cows". 🙂

A good reason to let someone know EXACTLY where you are, especially out here where there are thousands of square miles of uninhabited desert. I use a Spot tracker to send my friend the lat/lon of the exploration site. When we exit, I send an OK message. If we don't come back out, they know exactly where to start the rescue.

Not too long ago I was rappelling down a shaft. Just as I was about 6 feet above the ground I noticed a rattlesnake sitting on a small outcropping on the wall. I tried to swing away from him only to notice another rattler on the opposite wall that I was swinging towards. 😢 My fastest ever changeover from rappel to climb.
