As I understand it,Mammoth ivory has been found in Siberia since the days of Marco Polo.
Certainly I have spoken to Russians who regularly pick up samples from river banks in Siberia.
It also found when they are washing stream debris for gold in Alaska.
The Siberian, material I have seen is pretty dark and does not have the ivory look.
The Alaskan material looks all the world like raw Ivory.
