A quick shot-blast and dose of red-lead (or modern equivalent) could add any number of noughts onto the price, I do notice that there is no photo of the front or the tubes inside----.

I notice the description says no tubes...

I spotted the track maintenance trolley too and thought that looked a better prospect!

It is a spare boiler for a Dinorwic Port Class Loco. It came off No 1 when I owned it. I had the opportunity to buy the only spare boiler for a Port Class when I owned No 1 so bought that. I then had that one certified by the boiler inspector and placed that on No 1's chassis that way, the loco would have been out of service for a lesser time.

In fact, the boiler I bought, turned out to be No 1's original boiler. I think the one on ebay we worked out was off Dolbadarn.

Much use then? Do many people have a Port Class Loco in need of a replacement boiler shell?

If not, I suspect its value will be closer to its weight in low-signature scrap steel.

Now, now Miles. FR Rule Book states 20mph max except where lower permanent and temp limits apply. (I have been faster with several drivers who shall be nameless - gave me, as Fireman, a hard time keeping up with steam demand. I hasten to add that these were on empty carriage stock movements and no passengers were harmed during these movements...) :angel:

Well, with this one you'd not need to worry about stoking as it looks to have a perfectly serviceable Honda four stoke. You could sit back and relax, just needing to tip in a bit more super-unleaded every so often.

The only other two Dinorwic Port Class Locos are Dolbadarn (originally No 2) at Llanberis and Michael at Statfold Barn.

The Traws branch is due to be regauged to 2' under the F&WHR's Ph7 expansion plan Ange - reinstatement of F&B and extend back to Bala via a Dduallt style spiral around Llyn Celyn... So better be quick with the speeder unmodified. :devil:

Why the need for a spiral when plans had been drawn up for the standard gauge railway to be diverted round the edge of the reservoir? I am certain that didn't require a spiral. In the end they just decided to close it and link that line to the LNWR line.
