hi
Peter, thanks for uploading this picture. From the picture it looks as if there is outlet for air ventilation from the mine?
Is this a correct interpretation?

Hi John
I first saw this before it was installed, then after it had been installed and before the area was backfilled.
It has an approx 10 inch diameter corrugated pipe leading into the base of it from a hole at the base of the stonework blocking the adit entrance.

The pipe then heads off under the track and presumably joins the new concrete canvas lined drainage channel at some point.
I will have a closer look this weekend, to tidy up some of the details of what is happening.

When I checked on a number of occasions a few weeks ago there was no air movement at the adit entrance.

John - it is possible that there may be some air entry spaces around the drain from the mine into the concrete tank. However, as mentioned by allanr, there was no noticeable air movement.

Thanks for the update. It S somewhat worrying that this important access to the Barneycraig system is not being allowed proper ventilation!
Hopefully someone will mention it in a liaison meeting with the Coal board?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
