Anybody got pictures of it?
Seems that anything more than a few inches deep is called a sinkhole these days.

Seems the press have been a little too dramatic with the initial description.

I see no sinkhole. I do see subsidence though.

Flooding report: must have been a powerful surge of water to move the place that far.

Caption from the Mirror.

It shows just how far we are up here (Yorks) from the centre of power (London). The TV presenters were desperately struggling to position many of the Lancastrian, Cumbrian and Yorkshire locations, let alone cope with pronouncing Mytholmroyd. We truly are a different country; how offended would they be or, how foolish would we Northerners be portrayed, if we didn't know where Chiswick was or pronounced it 'chiz wick'? Infrastructure spending, that's the key; flood defences in Cumbria, coal industry at Kellingley, steel at Redcar, trans-pennine rail electrification = no money. Crossrail for London = how much do you want!
