Jim, are you sure this is Blagill?
I have no photos but have been Googling around there on my desktop and although some groundwork possible since the photo terrain and bridge look nothing like.
Looking at the photo, it does look like somewhere I have been. Its irking me

Hi Roy,

That's how Dad annotated it and it does look like the bridge, the 1890 OS map is a little ambiguous but does seem to show a drainage line roughly where the adit mouth is. Dad and Harry were also at the coalmine at the same time.

The site looks like it's been re-planted since.

And this level;

Looks like brickwork at the entrance so quite late? late 19th/early 20th C.

does this look at all familiar.

The area around the bridge seem to be quite a complex of mines.

If you have a look at the oldmaps website, on the 1981 1:2500 map it is shown as 'level(disused)' and the watercourse as 'drain'

Mm. Just had another armchair drive by, I think you right. Its changed a lot and I was not around there in my early days.

I think first visit to the Nent was 1986 and I soon became obsessed with Caplecleugh to the exclusion of all else.
But I survived, just about.

It's part of the fun of Dad, Harry and others photos from the 60's onwards in that they are at least a record of how quickly things can change. It's even more useful when the old curmudgeons bothered to annotate them!
