As the 2015 calendar is now off to print and we'll be taking orders very soon (from Monday 10th November) we need to decide where the profits are going.

For anybody new to the site since last year, the calendar is done every year as a fund raiser for cave rescue organisations and mining history groups. We pick one of each per year and split the profits between them.

I suggest we stick to this again this year. Profits split between a CRO and a mining history group.

So... over to you all 🙂 Nominations please...

Please reply to this thread naming the mining history group or project and/or cave rescue you'd like to see profits given to.

We'll take votes for one week then pick the one from each category with the most votes.

So it appears Upper Wharfdale Fell Rescue have not yet benefitted, I know they recover people from underground, how many mines are in their remit?

Buckden Gavel is the most commonly visited mine. Their main job is bringing overdue cavers out of Dowbergill Passage which is not necessarily something this forum should be funding, as worthy a duty as it might be.

It is apparent that Yorkshire hasn't featured previously however. Swaledale MRT cover probably the part of Yorkshire most visited by members of this forum & have rescued people from mines quite recently.

Cani ask for the Shropshire mines trustwe own Tankerville mine and have match funded an English heritage grant to repair / restore the retaining wall to the site, this has wiped out our funds we need to provide signage and insurance plus other works. We plan to do further work on displays atsnailbeach including lighting of engine shaft but have not been able to do this

I would certainly be quite happy to propose them and I think that there is another forum member who would be more than happy to second that. :)

Quite happy to go along with local knowledge:thumbup:

Arguably we should be going for a group who has not benefited previously.

I also vote this way;

Shropshire Mines
Swaledale MRT

Well put cases for both.

I somehow missed out on last years calendar, a lot of distractions going on as I recall. Must pay attention this year!

I had a quick look at the post from last year on this subject and Simon posted this - "Previous recommendations that didn't quite attract enough votes were Midland Cave Rescue and Cornwall Search and Rescue and so it seems reasonable to nominate them for voting."

I will throw them in for consideration this year.
