For anyone who knows me personally, you'll probably already have heard i've had the extreme good fortune to get a job for the next two years doing what I had been doing for free most weekends.

A Heritage Lottery Funded project to discover, catalogue, promote and conserve the industrial heritage between Skelton and Guisborough.

Anyone is welcome to have a look at what we're up to, although I would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who's done a similar HLF-funded project, for any sage advice.

Congratulations, sounds like a really interesting opportunity. Redcar & Cleveland taking an interest in mining heritage - wonders will never cease.

The project area looks interesting. I have vague memories of poking around there twenty five years ago (before the bypass was built) looking for the remains Waterfall mine tramway.

Congratulations!!

Hope it also brings you the chance to convince people (i.e. investors/sponsors) how fantastic an industrial museum at Skelton Park would be!!

Cheers from an expat Tyke in Germany

Thanks.

Regarding Skelton Park, I believe it was at one point considered for the location of what became the Tom Leonard Mining Museum at Skinningrove (Loftus Ironstone Mine)

Unfortunately I don't think we have enough tourists for two ironstone mining museums.

Well done Chris, I hope it all goes well for you.
Just a little word of advice, try and publish as much as you can.
I think that the funding powers all seem to like to see their area under the spotlight, and publishing "stuff" seems to help.

Been having a good play about with 3D models of mine buildings over the last few weeks.

Feel free to have a play, although you'll need a decent PC and internet connection as they are big.

Fine 3D models Chris.

It's probably just me or that it's 7 in the morning but I now feel quite dizzy.

I look forward to more whirling pit experiences as your time allows:blink:

Chris didn't see me today however.

Three of us working in the pouring rain to uncover a boiler flue and not a cream cake in sight to raise morale! 😞
Yes, I'll have it - what is it?

Apologies for the lack of patisserie inspiration.

The project officer was in Manchester at a concert. 😉

Finally got the council drone in the air which should open up many new possibilities for the 3D model.
