Some ideas:

A mine in the Stwlan area. Long walk up, wet feet, nice photo opportunity;

Betws Garmon / Ystrad / Garreg Fawr Iron Mines.
These are the series of workings on the hillside seen from the road between Waunfawr and Betws Garmon. I've driven past plenty of times but never visited;

Nant y Gadwen Manganese Mine, Llyn Peninsula. A fair old drive for most. Not especially extensive, but interesting and a nice area to visit. Possibility of new ground by boating across a flooded chamber to a passage visible at the end. Getting in and out of a boat could be tricky as there's no "beach".

Any other suggestions or votes for the above? :flowers:

Stwlan sounds interesting.

Or what about Conglog or Nith y Gigfran?

Or ... tied in with your Stwlan mine I fancy checking out that adit on the other side of the Bwlch. The little fenced off one that was over welly depth water. It probably doesn't lead to much, but when I looked at it before it looked like it was a fair length.

Don't bother Chris. I went up there with waders a few days after our last visit & it's just a trial. The thing that looked like a dam was just loose fall from the walls & the level extended for about 60/70ft beyond with a slight curve, finishing in the inevitable dead-end.

Thanks mate. I was pretty certain that was what I would find. You've saved me getting wet just to prove it. :thumbsup:

I'm in.

I seem to remember that it was Turbosteve who dug out the drainage channel for the adit, so I might fancy bringing up the odd implement to carry on the good work.

Anyone else, if you feel like joining us you'll be most welcome. It'll be a fairly tame trip with no SRT (unless anyone has any bright ideas?), starting and ending with a longish but pleasant walk past Llyn Cwmorthin.:flowers:
