Dear all, I was fortunate enough to be selected for a full site tour here. I was given a great level of access to various buildings and based on that have put together a photographic web site purely for Kellingley, with help from the miners by way of their pictures I have been able to fill in gaps and provide access to a huge number of shots of the place being built.

Ian, brilliant job - it needed to be done. I can't believe it - I'd realised how perilous things had become but I never thought I'd see the end of the industry in my lifetime.

I did make it to the march; I consider it a privilege to have been there. Amongst the sadness we had a few laughs about times (and a few people) now passed.

I've may have a couple of pics for you if you want them - I'll see what I've got.

I have to be honest the night before it shut I couldn't sleep thinking about it, the real end of deep mining... So I went there (on my way to a meeting in York) for a couple of hours and there was one other bloke who came and went but I hovered and got a few shots of that stunning sunrise, I then found a hole in fence and invited myself... I did the March feeling I had to be there! I wrote a heartfelt letter to the manager wh let me round on 7th to do my survey! Luck Lucky Lucky!! But also sad to be the honourable recorder on the death of Britains last pit!:(

Splendid site albeit tinged with pathos.

The lads from the K gave supported the site I'm pleased to say, and there is nowt in it for anyone just a standin record of the pit from the inside... last one last chance so I did it... Yes sad but at least we can see it for a long time to come!

A sad day indeed, but a real fitting testament to all the folk who dedicated their lives to the industry that made Britain great.
Nice work mate
