Another good calender, well done to all concerned.

Pity there is no names to what district/area they are taken.

Point taken, to an extent - although to include the names can require local knowledge and the risk that we use the wrong one...

For example, would - say - Bowydd (Foty) be in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd or Caernarfonshire?

It would have been Caernarfonshire when it was worked, so is that more accurate than labelling it with the modern county of Gwynedd?

Then again, if we're going to call it Caernarfonshire, we should perhaps call it Carnarvonshire, because that was the more commonly used spelling at the time.

Okay, I suppose we could settle on using the nearest town to get away from the issues associated with changing administrative boundaries, but even that's going to cause problems for some of the more remote locations which are either not near to a town; or are somewhere in between two villages; or where there's a small hamlet close-by and then a more recognised town a little further away.

That sort of thing would, I suspect, be replicated several times for each calendar - and I fear that making the final decision as to how to label something would come down to Simon or I having to make a judgement call on something we're not particularly familiar with.

The probability would be that at some point we'd get it wrong in some people's eyes - and only have that raised after the calendar has been printed.

So... that's my reasoning; if you want to find out where the mines are, check the database here on AN and the exact location will be shown on the map 😉

The usual 100, but I think the printer provided a few more copies, haven't had time to count them. The sales spreadsheet will confirm when they're all sold.

Cracking pictures as usual.
