Yes that is how they drill !

Artisanal mining at its best - adapting an industrial electric drill to drlling small shot holes in a high grade gold-quartz vein. They then hand roll small sausages of gelignite from indugel stick powder and fire one hole at a time with electric deonators. Might break a hundred kilos if they are lucky. This would be two sacks to be carried out to surface up the old shaft 55m near vertical. Why ? Well the handpicked ore runs around 100g/t gold.
