In about 1910 a government scheme was put into place for a deep pumping scheme beneath Halkyn''s exisiting workings (drained by the Milwr Tunnel). Cornish pitwork was installed in Taylor''s Shaft, Rhydymwyn (SJ 20620 67578) which was driven by electric motors. In June 1977 it was still possible to peer down this fearsome shaft with the pitwork still in place. As will be expected, today this is now covered with a massive concrete plinth. This and the others here, have been sitting in my Aditnow personal album so I have transferred them via a screen capture rather than a re-scan. Quality may have suffered a little in the process.
