Top of the tramway up from the level to the winding engine. Talked to a local who has lived in the Forest all his life, and whose grandfather started many of the local coal pits. He told us that, as a lad, he would hop on one of the drams, be hauled up the tramway, and then jump off, just before it went over the brow, and before the engine man spotted him. As a Bevin Boy, he also worked at Princess Royal Colliery. Will try and get some interviews with him over the summer. He has a huge breadth of knowledge of the local pits.
