Looking SSW toward Durham, This line closed in the late 1950s, just before the Beeching cuts, The line is still pretty much intact though a few bridges have been removed. Whilst if you continued along The Leamside line, you would of come across Sherburn Colliery which was very close to the Main line (now an allotment and possibly the odd old building?).
