The base of the old crusher house at Silverbrook Mine. This once contained a rock crusher driven by a 20 inch steam engine installed in a house to the left of the crusher. This engine also doubled as a winding engine for the main shaft which was situated in the area of shadow by the tree trunk on the left of the photograph. The crusher was fed from above and there was a rail incline supported by large poles which the ore wagons would be pulled up, presumably by a winch at the top of the crusher house. The base of one of the poles can still be seen near the stream. The sketches of the mine by Frederick Foote, a local artist, show this incline in good detail.
