The level is driven almost due North from the west bank of Shaw Beck for 2030ft (619m), eventually entering the Five Yard Limestone, and reaching the junction of Black Vein with Alcock North. From this junction, a drift followed Black Vein for 1225ft (373m) to the ENE, then ran N as a cross cut for 600ft (183m) and then turned ENE for a further 1650ft (503m). There is no vein stuff on the dumps from Shaw Level, so if there were any productive veins discovered it is likely that the ore was processed at the Stang Mine where there was a watewer powered crushing wheel.
