Shafts at Gilson's Cove Mine

The two shafts on the clifftop near Doyden castle (in the background). The nearer shaft is mainly in killas and connects with a large sea cave at the bottom which is developed on a major north dipping fault structure. Just above the bottom of the shaft a drive heads for the other shaft but was blocked (mid-1970s) by a collapse or fill from the shaft.
