Screens sidings at Park Pits, Poynton c1930

These screens served the three shafts at the Park Pits, Poynton. They were fitted with chain screens to a patent by the colliery engineer G.G. Greenwell Junior in the late 19th century. The engine house and headgear on the left are for the Lawrance Pit which was sunk c1885, whilst just visible behind is the headframe of the Oval Pit which was worked by a single cylinder vertical winder made by Thomas Murray of Chester-le-Street in 1845.
