The Ruddygore mine worked an orebody east of Chillagoe. Unlike the other vein-type operations in the area this was a disseminated low grade copper deposit hosted in monzongranite porphyries. Between 1896 and closure in 1909 the mine produced 32,750 tonnes of handpicked copper ore averaging 3.9% Cu. Workings included two opencuts and 4 shafts reaching 120m depth
