Today The engine shed is part of The Tanfield Railway, which has many "Open Days" which on the day of the picture was a Steam Day and Classic Car Show Gathering. The Blue Contraption was one of The 1st Electric Trains used in The Coal Field, Chopwell Mines used to use these at the turn of The Century whilst this survivor was from The Harton Coal Field (Westoe, Whitburn, St Hilder, Harton Collieries and possibly Boldon ?) . Just to the right of the engine shed is The Tanfield Graveyard which is home to some wonderful relics in various states of decay, even if your not into Trains/Carriages its a fabulous place to explore for a couple of hours.
