A trip into the adit here was an appalling experience since, a little way in, this connected to a shaft to surface, down which numberless dead sheep had been thrown. Thus, to continue, entailed climbing a wobbly and stinking cone of carcases which were intermixed with various clips of live .303 ammunition! Took a while before we fancied a lamb dish again.
